Welcome to Artists and Ascension

The blog talk radio show began in June, 2009, and the website followed in September. I learned how to do radio shows through my participation in the Gold Ring Community, a mostly online community of spiritual seekers and teachers.

I have found throughout the years that my creativity has swung from working alone to working with others, and then to working alone again. But there doesn’t seem to be any “alone” anymore, however. Not with the internet constantly at our fingertips!

We have entered a different era. A time when we must all come together and realize our oneness. Along with many others, I have found the need to find my “group” in order to reach the next level with my work. Being listened to and being seen, receiving that feedback, and then seeing and hearing what others are up to, feeling myself part of a greater force, a greater movement, has been just the thing to fire me up.

Painting and writing are both very solitary pursuits. Between the shift I made from being a painter to being a writer, I became involved with the CPC in 1987 – The Center for Peace Through Culture, giving workshops and helping to organize events.  Part of the work I participated in was bringing to light what artists actually did in relation to enhancing a culture. Then in the mid-nineties when I was living in Park Slope, Brooklyn, I co-founded Brooklyn Visions, a group of local artists. We had many shows in the area, and in the spring of 1998 we had a show sponsored by Howard Golden, the Brooklyn Borough President. I was very inspired to work with these artists, and interviewed many of them for a book called Artists’ Visions, Artists’ Voices; Nine Interviews Chronicling The Nature of Art and Creativity; Luna Pub. (1996).

I have always been fascinated by the way artists and writers, musicians and dancers interpret the world we live in. How a visual artist will be fascinated with the play of light, or a writer or poet will obsess over a turn of phrase. I am thrilled and grateful that we now have so many opportunities to share our work over the internet and connect with like-minded beings so that we never have to feel isolated again. It is in the sharing that we spark one another and come up with new ideas, new ways of presenting them. I love that I am able to give voice to my own work as well as share the platform with others of like heart and mind.
